My First Photo Shoot

Yesterday I had my first photo shoot for someone to whom I am not related. One of my friends is expecting a baby in July and she was kind enough to let me take some pictures of her for my portfolio. While it wasn’t exactly what I expected, I think the shots turned out all right. I’ll post them here and if you’d like to offer some feedback, I’d love to hear it. Good or bad. I won’t learn as much without it! Fire Away!

My personal favorites are the ones with the bow. Those turned out almost exactly as I imagined they would!

In other news, Iain has captured a caterpillar and is now holding him hostage keeping him as a pet. I tried to explain that we’re keeping him from his destiny of becoming a butterfly but I’m not sure if that makes any difference. They’re just excited to have one as a pet. 🙂

Hope all is well in your world!

  1. Gorgeous! I love, love, love the bows. Just fantastic!

  2. Hey Carri! you survived camping! You’re so much tougher than me. LOL

Thanks very much for your comment. I love the bows, too. I haven’t heard whether she liked them or not though!

  3. I love the top one. It is so pretty.

  4. as alway Evie, your photos are simply beautiful! I love the bows on belly, but I have a thing for big round preggo bellies! Great great shots!-K

  5. Thanks Summer!

K, I love big preggo bellies, too. They’re beautiful! Thanks for the compliment!

  6. Hi Evie,

I left a comment earlier but it doesn’t seem to have saved.

Anyhow – I think your pics are great, and like the other ladies, just LOVE the bows! I also wish that I had looked that good when I was pregnant all those years ago!

  7. I love the pictures Evie! What a beautiful idea to add the bow to her pregnant belly. 🙂

  8. I think you did a great job! I love the ones with the bow as well!

I am taking pictures of my friends 2 year old daughter this weekend for her birthday….oh my….wish me luck hahahaha

  9. Cate, seriously I wished I had looked that good, too! Those are not maternity shorts she’s wearing!! Stinker. I don’t know why your comment didn’t save earlier. Blogger has trouble with that sometimes.

Jill, thank you for your comment! I wish I could take credit for the bow pose but I saw someone else do it on Flickr and thought it was too flippin’ cute for words.

Thank you! You’ll do great with your photos, too, I have no doubt. You’ll have to post some on your blog so we can see! Do you have a flickr account?

  10. Oh!!! I love the top one!!!

I like the color and the tag :o)

  11. Thank you, Donna!!!

  12. I wish Iain better luck than my daughter. She rescued a caterpillar from boy about to squish it on Thursday. We got on the Internet and made it a habitat but sadly Stardust passed away Saturday night. She feels she did the right thing rescuing her though she wishes she had let it go in our yard.

  13. I finally convinced Iain to let it go by asking him if he would like it if someone picked him up and stored him in a glad sandwich container and threw in some Cheetos once in a while. He was sad at first but he would have been devastated if it had died in the container.

I’m sorry to hear that your daughter’s caterpillar died but it’s like you said, at least Stardust wasn’t squished by some bully!

  14. LOVE THESE!!!

You are so talented! This *almost* makes me wish I’d have taken some close up pics of my baby bellies…you’d have probably been able to make me look this good! 😉

  15. Thanks Secret Agent. 🙂
If you have another I’d be happy to come out and take some pics!

  16. Wow, those are wonderful pictures. Thanks so much for sharing.

  17. Thanks Freckles!!

  18. Hi Evie,

I just wanted to pop in here to comment. I commented on individual pictures at FLickr but I couldn’t see the pics here on the day you posted them for some reason. I just didn’t want you to think that I had forgotten about you. As usual your pics are gorgeous. I love the bow in color but I like the one on Flickr that is b & w too.

PLease make me feel better about myself by telling me this is her first baby! 🙂

  19. The pics are awesome. I think the top one is my favorite. The color and lighting/shadows is all gorgeous! Well done!

  20. Marin, I wish I could tell you that but it’s her second baby. She’s just naturally fit and gorgeous. And she’s really nice, too! Her son is friends with Iain.

bronie, thanks so much for your comment! I really appreciate that!

  21. I just realized I didn’t comment on the pictures you took. They are great. I first saw them on flickr. I’m pretty good about viewing things but currently I seem to be on a delay as far as commenting. Again good work.

  22. LOL

Joan, I know what you mean. I feel like I’ve been on a delay for the past couple of weeks.

    Thanks for your kind compliment!

  23. You did an awesome job! The first may not have come out exactly as you wanted but I think it’s great!

  24. Hey, Sheri! It was the shoot itself that didn’t happen the way I thought it would but I really just didn’t know what to expect. The first pic is actually my favorite.

We also stumbled upon a goose sitting on her nest and she defended it, which was a little scary! LOL It set the tone for me, catching me off guard and making me feel a little frazzled!

  25. How can those not be maternity shorts?!?!?! I figured they were the hidden panel/band kind that puts the stretch thing in the back. No?

I love these photos So much I want to get some of me before I burst. 🙂

    Absolutely beautiful.

  26. RIGHT???

What the hell?? I was totally teasing her about still wearing regular shorts.

If you lived here, I would take some for you! Why don’t you get your hubby to do it? You guys could have fun with that. You could get some sweet shots of Lil Bug’s cheek on your tummy, or her kissing your tummy.

You should do it and post them on your blog!!!
